In the meantime, here's a brief bio as supplied by Silver
Kamel Audio:
Billy Boyo was born Sept. 21st 1969, and
christened Billy Theophilus Rowe, in Kingston, Jamaica. He soon moved to Brooklyn, NY,
growing up in the company of such reggae alumni as Henry "Junjo" Lawes,
who was married to his sister Rosemarie. Billy moved in a musical crowd, namely, Ranking
Toyan, Little Harry, and Little John to name a
few. Living in this enviroment it was inevitable that a boy with such talent would soon
record his own music. Thus Billy Boyo developed a very distinctive
"sinjay" style that betrayed his youth yet gave homage to his street smarts.
In the early 1980's rumor spread that Billy Boyo
and Little Harry had been shot and killed. However, this proved to be
untrue. Billy in fact died of a brain tumor on Oct. 29th 2000 after a two month long
struggle to beat the disease. Billy had been moving in the upper circles of reggae with Yellowman
and Gregory Isaacs counted amongst this group. Why Billy Boyo
chose to stop recording we will never know. The reggae scene lost yet another great
artist.
Silver Kamel Audio is pleased to present
this CD as a testament of Billy Boyo's talent. Play it. Enjoy it.
